More festival workers and staff at major summer events are to be trained on what to do in the event of a terrorist incident following the atrocities in Manchester and London.

Commissioner Ian Dyson QPM of the City of London Police said: ‘Once again the UK has been subject to a horrific terrorist attack, and once again Police officers were at the forefront, showing remarkable bravery as they defended people against the evil of terrorism.

On Friday (26 May 2017) Ben House, 31, from Eastfield Road, Southsea, was sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court to three years and four months imprisonment after he defrauded his employer, Ageas.

On Monday 22 May, three men pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court to fraud by false representation, following an investigation by the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).

Two ex-hotel chain employees were sentenced on Monday 22 May 2017 to a total of five years for conspiracy to commit fraud by abuse of position for stealing a total of £173,222 from their employer, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).

On Tuesday 16 May a man was sentenced to six months in prison after he caused a car crash and then tried to claim for damages and a personal injury following an investigation by officers at the City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED).  

Detective Chief Inspector Edelle Michaels of  the City of London Police said:

“This was a serious and complex case which required the expertise of the City of London Police Major Crime Team.

Detectives from the City of London Police are appealing to City residents and workers for information after a doorman was assaulted outside a pub on Leadenhall Street.

We welcomed six reserve deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office (OCSO) in Florida to the Square Mile as part of a learning exchange between the two police services.
