City of London Police statement – unexplained death

The City of London Police is appealing for information after the death of a woman in the City of London.

We were called at 5.38am on Monday (27 November 2017) by London Ambulance Service paramedics to a woman in her 50s found with significant injuries, behind the City of London School for Girls in the Barbican.

The woman was confirmed deceased at the scene and investigations are ongoing. Police are treating the death as unexplained and are now working to inform her family.

At this stage, the woman is not believed to be connected to the school.

Detective Chief Inspector Edelle Michaels of the City of London Police Major Crime Team said:

“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have information which can help, to contact police immediately.
