Police appeal after theft from City bar

Detectives from the City of London Police have released an image of a man they are looking to speak to in connection with a theft at The Otherist bar in Old Broad Street.

At approximately 8pm on Friday 25 August 2017, a man was captured on CCTV walking along Old Broad Street and looking inside The Otherist bar. He then entered the premises and sat down next to an unattended bag which he pulled between his legs and walked off with.

Officers from the City of London Police are keen to speak to anybody who recognises the man in the image and anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything suspicious.

Police Constable Jason Theobald, who is leading the investigation, said:

“The City of London Police take reports of theft very seriously and a full investigation into this incident is underway.

If you recognise the man in the image or were in the area around the time of the offence please get in touch. Information that you provide could be significant to our investigation.

In the meantime we urge anyone socialising in the City to keep their personal belongings close and within their sight at all times.”

If you can help the investigation, please contact the City of London Police by calling 020 7601 2222. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
