The City of London Police is appealing for help in identifying the Good Samaritan who helped a teenage girl after she had been sexually assaulted.

A man, unknown to the 16-year-old victim, assaulted her as she sat on a bench facing Queen Victoria Street in Clearly Gardens, Huggin Hill.

The incident took place on Saturday 3 June at approximately 10:50pm.

The victim was very shaken by the experience but was not physically injured.

Seeing the victims’ distress, a man sat on an adjacent bench challenged the suspect, giving the victim an opportunity to get away. The victim left the area and headed towards the Millennium Bridge.

Detective Constable Sian Astley, who is leading the investigation said: “I am keen to speak to the man who bravely intervened and gave the victim time to get away.

“If this was you or you know who he is, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and is currently in police custody.
