Detectives from the City of London Police are appealing to City residents and workers for information after a doorman was assaulted outside a pub on Leadenhall Street.

The incident occurred at approximately 2.30am on Sunday 19 February 2017 after a group had been asked to leave the Steam and Rye pub by security staff.

Outside the venue, a member of the group approached the victim and attacked him. The victim sustained cuts to his face and a serious injury to his hand that required surgery.

We are keen to speak to the man in the image as it is believed he may have information that could help the ongoing investigation.

Detective Constable Mark Alston  from the City of London Police said:  “The victim was simply doing his job when he suffered a vicious attack that left him needing surgery to put pins in his hand. I would encourage anybody that was in the area and witnessed this incident to come forward and talk to us.

“Since this assault took place we have been conducting a thorough investigation. I appreciate that this incident occurred in February but I would ask anyone that may recognise the man in the image to please get in touch with us at the earliest possible opportunity.”

If you can help our investigation please call 020 7601 2999 and quote CR/1062/17. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
