Do you recognise this man?

Detectives from the City of London Police Public Protection Unit have released the image of a man they are looking to speak to in connection with an attempted sexual assault.

At approximately 1.20am on Saturday 22 April, the victim, a 25-year-old woman was walking along Leadenhall Street when an unknown man grabbed her from behind.

The man then dragged her into an alleyway by Fenchurch buildings, EC3 where the woman managed to fight him off. The man then ran away.

Officers from the City of London Police are keen to speak to anybody who recognises the man in the image as it is thought he may be able to help with the investigation. Detectives are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have witnessed anything suspicious.

Detective Constable Paul Keogh, who is leading the investigation, said: “Fortunately the victim was not physically harmed during the incident but is understandably shaken up by what happened. She continues to be supported by specially trained officers as we continue with our investigation.

“I also want to reassure City residents and those who come into the City to work and socialise, that a full investigation is underway.

“We’re now asking the public for their help -  if anyone was in the area and saw anything please get in touch.  Information that you provide could be significant to our investigation.”

If you can help the investigation, please contact the City of London Police Public Protection Unit (PPU) by calling 0207 601 2930. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
