Police appeal following assault on Eldon Street

The City of London Police is asking members of the public for their help investigating an assault which took place on Eldon Street (EC2M), on Saturday 7 July 2018.

Officers have today (01 November 2018) released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

The victim of the assault, a man aged 28, was returning to his office to collect his things and go home after visiting a bar in the City with work colleagues at approximately 00.40am when he was followed by two men he did not know.

An argument ensued and he was punched multiple times in the face. At this point a female work colleague of the victim intervened, putting a stop to the assault.

The victim was left with significant facial injuries, including a broken nose, and required surgery.

DC Ashleigh Wright from the City of London Police said:

“If it hadn’t been for the intervention of the victim’s friend, this assault could have been a lot worse and the injuries sustained by the victim much more devastating.

“Violence of any kind will not be tolerated by the City of London Police and we would encourage anybody who recognises the man in the image released today to get in touch with us.”

If you witnessed this incident, or are able to identify the man, please call the City of London Police on 0207 601 2999. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or give information via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
