Police appeal following attempted robbery of bookmakers

The City of London Police is asking members of the public for their help investigating an attempted robbery which took place at a BetFred store on Minories (EC3) on Tuesday 28 August 2018.

Officers have today (13 September 2018) released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

Staff in the betting shop were approached at approximately 05.50pm and told to hand over money from the till. The male suspect intimated he had a knife and threatened violence against some of the workers.

Detective Constable Robin Norris, from the City of London Police, said:

“Thankfully nobody was harmed during this incident and the suspect fled the premises without taking anything.

“However, to help further our enquiries, we would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV image released today.

“He is wearing distinctive clothing including a Nike baseball cap and an Oakland Raiders hooded sweatshirt.”

If you witnessed this incident, or are able to identify the man, please call the City of London Police on 0207 601 2999. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or give information via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
