Two men charged by Cyber Crime Unit for fraud offences

Two men appeared in court yesterday (Thursday 23 August 2018) charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, as part of a City of London Police investigation.

Dinesh Alabala, 29, and Avinash Kakumanu, 29, both of no fixed abode, appeared at City of London Magistrates’ Court yesterday, having been charged with the offences the previous day (Wednesday 22 August 2018).

At court, both men were remanded in custody and will next appear at Southwark Crown Court on Thursday 20 September 2018.

The charges followed a series of search warrants carried out by the City of London Police’s Cyber Crime Unit in various areas of London on Tuesday (21 August 2018). Four other people from the East London area were also arrested, two men aged 42 and 36, and two women aged 62 and 33, who have since been released under investigation.

Tuesday’s operation follows an initial warrant in May 2018, which resulted in a man and a woman arrested for suspected money laundering.
